[Nakasato Dinosaur Kingdom]
1. Arranging fossils in correct position
Mongolian dinosaur fossils were shipped to Nakasato not being assembled. It should be emphasized that some of these specimens had never been reconstructed anywhere in the world. To reconstruct and display the dinosaur skeletons for this exhibition, we had to start with constructing steel supports.

Arranging fossils with verification

fossils shipped from Mongolia
This photograph shows the fossils as they were when they first arrived at Nakasato. These fossils were placed on spongy cushions to be protected from disruption.
Then these fossilized bones were carefully examined to see if there was any damage made during the transportation.

At first these fossils were arranged on a table and placed in correct position according to instructions made by R. Balsbold. To avoid fossil damage, the table was covered with spongy cushions as well. As the fossilized bones were very weak, every care should have been taken.
Some bones, for example, phalanges required special care to be positioned in correct order and side (right/left), because they look similar with each other. If something doesn't make sense, reconstruction staff immediately asked Balsbold for his advice or referred to the figures of skeletons in scientific papers, books, etc. to avoid making any mistake.

Section

At this stage, it should make it clear how whole works should be assigned, and proceed, and how whole skeleton should be divided to sections.
Reconstructed dinosaur skeletons will be shipping back to Mongolia someday. For convenience of shipping fossils by air, it is required to make many steel supports smaller than 150cm.
